URAC Accreditation Committee
One of URAC’s most hard-working committees is the Accreditation Committee (AC). The AC meets twice a month and is charged with reviewing accreditation applications as presented by the Accreditation Reviewers (after the desktop and onsite reviews have been conducted) and making final determinations on accreditation. The AC is likewise charged with oversight of the accreditation process, developing policies such as scoring methodology or compliance onsite reviews.
The AC is composed of highly experienced professionals with a broad range of specialties and expertise in the managed care industry and an in-depth understanding on the intent of the URAC standards and its applicability in the real world of a managed care organization. Members go through an annual nomination process and is approved by URAC Board of Directors. Members may serve an unlimited number of years, however, chairpersons are limited to two consecutive one year terms. Members cannot be consultants for the purpose of assisting organizations to pursue accreditation.
