Annette Watson, RN, CCM, MBA

Senior Vice President

Annette Watson has been a Senior Vice-President at URAC since 2001, and is an expert and thought leader on quality and patient safety in medical management in the United States .

Prior to joining URAC, she was the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for a national company providing medical management services to major insurers, unions, HMO's, PPO's and the self-insured market. She also worked for many years developing and implementing utilization and case management programs for a Blue Cross Blue Shield organization in the northeast.

Ms. Watson was a long standing member and a past Chair of the URAC Standards Committee. For many years, she served on committees for the American Association of Health Plans and its predecessor organization, AMCRA.

Ms. Watson was a founder of the New England Association of Nurse Case Managers and remains active in the Case Management Society of America, currently serving as a member of the Case Management Leadership Council. She is also a member of the National Quality Forum's Research and Quality Council, the National Business Coalition on Health's Healthcare Leadership Council, the Disease Management Association of America Patient Safety Workgroup, and the American College of Medical Quality's Forum on Quality in Managed Care. Ms. Watson is also a member of the National Women Business Leaders in the Health Care Industry, a professional association of senior women who are nominated based on their contributions and achievements in health care. She is an adjunct faculty member for the University System of New Hampshire, having taught a number of health care courses through the College of Lifelong Learning/Granite State College and is a Curriculum Advisory Committee member for the Academy of Health Care Management , a professional education program sponsored by America 's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP).

A frequent presenter at national conferences, Ms. Watson speaks and writes extensively on quality issues, and currently contributes a regular column, Inside the URAC Standards , for The Journal of Care Management.

Ms. Watson holds an MBA in Leadership from Franklin Pierce College , a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Sociology from New England College , an Associate of Science in Nursing from Bristol Community College , is a Registered Nurse, licensed in New Hampshire and Massachusetts , and a Certified Case Manager. She calls the small town of Bow , New Hampshire home when not in Washington , DC or traveling for business or pleasure.
