In order to ease the burden of reporting performance measures data, URAC has developed a classification system for measures to incorporate into its accreditation products. This system consists of two categories: mandatory measures and exploratory measures.

  • Mandatory Measures are required for accreditation and must be reported to URAC annually.
  • Exploratory Measures are those “on the cutting edge,” meaning that either the industry has not come to consensus on how to measure a particular concept or the measure is experimental or under development. With exploratory measures, the organization has the option to report.
