URAC Launches Portal to Allow Year-Round Access to Accreditation Information

Monday, June 30th, 2008

Washington, D.C. June 30, 2008 – URAC announced today that currently accredited companies that submitted an online application via the AccreditNet application system, will now have access to their accreditation documents year-round through a new Web portal. The portal is designed to enhance the usability of AccreditNet, the organization’s online standards management and accreditation submission tool, at all points throughout an organization’s accreditation.

URAC is an independent, nonprofit health care accreditation body. Its accreditation standards cover nearly every functional aspect of health care management from utilization review and case management to health Web sites and pharmacy benefit management via more than 20 accreditation and certification programs. Thirty-eight states, the District of Columbia and the federal government reference URAC accreditation in state and federal statutes, regulations, agency publications, requests for proposals or contract language.

“URAC has made it a continual process to update and improve the online accreditation process and user experience through its AccreditNet portal,” said Rajani Nelamangala, URAC’s vice president of administration. “After soliciting feedback through focus groups and speaking with its users, URAC has built the year-round portal to address their needs.”

The new portal is available free of charge to all organizations with one or more current URAC accreditations. It allows organizations to access all current and previous accreditation application information through a document history. Organizations are also now able to upload documents at any time, regardless of whether they are currently applying for accreditation or re-accreditation. The portal allows year-round access to URAC accreditation seals and certificates in an online format.

“The enhancements to the online document library will provide URAC’s accredited companies with an invaluable resource for operational management effectiveness,” said Christine Leyden, URAC’s chief accreditation officer.
