URAC Offers Multimedia Tools For Education and Training

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

Washington, D.C. June 22, 2009 URAC, a leading health care accreditation and education organization, knows that everyone learns differently, and budgets and travel schedules can limit health care professionals’ opportunities to gain additional training. In response to these challenges, URAC has expanded its comprehensive education program to include a range of formats from eLearning and webinars to workshops and customized on-site training. The URAC Learning Center offers a variety of tools for health care management companies to train employees in a way that works best for specific organizations or departments.

“We”ve always gotten great feedback about our workshops and customized on-site training, but we know in today’s economy, and with many health care professionals taking on additional responsibilities, finding time for training can be difficult,” said Alan P. Spielman, president and CEO of URAC. “By adding webinars and eLearning to our education mix, we can help our clients and other health care professionals get the additional training they need, in a format that works for them.”

Education topics include specifics about the more than 25 URAC Accreditation programs including Pharmacy Benefit Management, Wellness, Health Utilization Management. URAC also offers training on broader health care industry topics such as “Claims Fraud And Abuse”, “Mastering The Quality Improvement Project Process” and “Plain Language Materials Development: Write it Clear, Write it in Plain Language”.

The URAC Learning Center provides easier access to a wide array of training options for organizations, including the following formats:

  • eLearning.  With the launch of the URAC Learning Center, URAC honed the power of technology to help organizations overcome the limitations of time, distance and resources. These new, self-paced eLearning modules are a means by which organizations can enable their employees to complete trainings at a time that is both convenient to them and cost efficient for the organization. Specific training topics include eLearning for Core Standards, Understanding Quality Improvement Projects (QIP), URAC Scoring System, and Health Utilization Management.
  • Webinars.  Since 2008, URAC has provided subject matter experts to organizations who want real-time, remote training on an array of health care industry topics.  Using remote conferencing technology, URAC brings training right to users’ desks or conference room, allowing for in-depth discussions and interactions.  Any of URAC’s webinars can be customized to meet an organization’s specific needs, and each session can be recorded for future use. Webinar topics include the Health Literacy Series, Understanding the Quality Improvement Project (QIP) Process, and AccreditNet Navigation Training.
  • Workshops.  Ideal for newly accredited organizations or re-accrediting organizations in need of a refresher on URAC standards and interpretations, these workshops are presented by URAC Accreditation Reviewers and serve as a great way to receive face-to-face information and access to URAC subject matter experts.  Workshops also serve as an opportunity for companies to share best practices and exchange ideas with others going through accreditation.  Many of URAC’s workshops are hosted in Washington, D.C., in addition to other convenient locations throughout the U.S.
  • On-site Training.  Sometimes there is no substitute for having a URAC Accreditation Reviewer conduct a training session, in person, at an organization.  URAC’s Accreditation Reviewers can deliver customized trainings on any and all of the URAC accreditation programs and specialty topics.  Additionally, an on-site training can be designed so that it meets an organization’s specific training needs.
