URAC’s Green, Bonome Set to Address Armada Specialty Pharmacy Summit

Thursday, February 11th, 2016

URAC President and CEO Kylanne Green and Director of Pharmacy Heather Bonome are confirmed speakers at the upcoming 2016 Armada Specialty Pharmacy Summit.

Scheduled for May 2nd through 6th at the Wynn and Encore resorts in Las Vegas, the Armada Specialty Pharmacy Summit is billed as “‘the must event’ for all health care professionals” who are focused on specialty pharmacy. URAC will continue its multiyear sponsorship of the event.

Green and Bonome join over a hundred other speakers scheduled to address thousands of Armada summit attendees on major issues affecting the specialty pharmacy field. Additionally, URAC will have a booth in the exhibit hall to educate attendees on the vital role accreditation serves in validating pharmacy quality.

With over 400 organizations now choosing URAC’s Pharmacy Quality Management® programs to validate their quality, URAC is recognized as an industry pioneer and leader. This makes Green and Bonome uniquely positioned to share their insights on the industry with participants at the summit.

On Tuesday, May 3, Green will speak at 1:00pm to Armada Summit attendees about “The Changing Role Specialty Pharmacy Plays in the Overall Health Care Continuum: Quality Standards and Future Outlook.” Describing Green’s address, the summit website notes:

The high cost of specialty medications has caught the attention of many stakeholders. Public demands for cost containment may be realized through innovative payer management strategies or the forces of government cost controls. Whichever path evolves, it is imperative that quality patient care remain a top priority. A pharmacy accreditation program can assure that quality is a key focus in the dispensing and patient management of specialty medications.

On Thursday, May 5, Bonome presents “Inside a Specialty Pharmacy Review: What URAC has Observed” at 10:30am. It’s noted on the summit web page that “[a]ccreditation… is a status that health plans look for when partnering in provider networks… Bonome reveals what URAC has learned and common pitfalls applicants seeking pharmacy accreditation should watch out for. She will also discuss the trends in the different types of pharmacies that are seeking URAC accreditation.” Bonome will be joined by URAC pharmacy reviewer Peter Peter in answering questions about URAC’s Specialty Pharmacy accreditation program standards and review methods.

Also speaking at the Armada Summit, in a separate panel on the “specialty pharmacy pipeline,” is Michael Einodshofer – the senior director for specialty strategy and innovation at Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy.
