This November, URAC honors Native American Heritage Month as we pay tribute to the rich and diverse histories of Indigenous peoples across the United States.
The observance, officially recognized in 1990, invites the nation to reflect on the contributions of Native American and Alaska Native communities while acknowledging the enduring resilience of tribal nations and their cultures. URAC’s mission to advance health care quality and equity aligns closely with this month’s themes of acknowledging heritage, fostering respect and building inclusive systems that serve all communities.
URAC’s Health Equity Accreditation empowers health care organizations to integrate equity principles, eliminate disparities and ensure that high-risk racial and ethnic populations receive optimal care. During Native American Heritage Month, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting Indigenous communities by promoting culturally responsive care, encouraging partnership with tribes and Native organizations, and advocating for systems that honor traditional knowledge alongside modern health care practices. Through these efforts we hope to advance greater equity and respect for Native American health and heritage now and into the future.
