A recent report from the Congressional Research Service (CRS) highlights URAC’s Health Care AI Accreditation as part of the broader national effort to establish guardrails for artificial intelligence in health care.
The report, Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Health Care: Recent Federal Activity, outlines current federal actions, policy considerations and areas where Congress may look to balance innovation with trust, transparency and risk mitigation, specifically noting the role of industry-led initiatives like URAC’s accreditation program in shaping responsible AI use.
As policymakers explore approaches to AI oversight amid rapid technological change, the CRS report underscores the value of collaborative models that engage health care stakeholders alongside government leaders. We developed our Health Care AI Accreditation with input from a national, multidisciplinary standards committee and designed the program to help organizations demonstrate quality, trust, safety and accountability while continuing to innovate.
The CRS reference reinforces that accreditation remains a practical, credible pathway for advancing responsible AI in health care.
