Modern Healthcare Magazine, a publication that sheds light on healthcare leaders’ complex choices, shared that URAC has launched our new Health Equity Accreditation. The article emphasizes the critical nature of addressing health care inequality and the associated disparities in outcomes.
URAC’s President and CEO, Shawn Griffin, MD, highlights the diverse set of stakeholders who had input in creating the accreditation, including the National Minority Health Forum, who collaborated with URAC on the creation. Dr. Griffin also discusses the fact that URAC’s Health Equity Accreditation is not limited to one particular area of the healthcare landscape – any organization can pursue the program.
“If you take a look at the other programs that are out there, if you look at who was part of building that program, it tends to be a smaller group, and they don’t have necessarily the background in this area,” he said. “We all have our different ways of doing things, but we also recognize that, from our perspective, health equity is across the entire healthcare marketplace. It’s not just limited to hospitals. It’s not limited to health plans.”
