The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight (CCIIO) has accepted URAC’s Marketplace Health Plan v8.0 standards for qualified health plans sold on the exchange. The CCIIO is part of the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) and provides national leadership in setting and enforcing standards for health insurance that promote fair and reasonable practices.
This means URAC’s Marketplace Health Plan Accreditation provides guidance to health plans seeking to participate in the Health Insurance Marketplace. URAC’s Marketplace Health Plan Accreditation replaces URAC’s Health Plan with Health Insurance Marketplace Accreditation.
URAC’s health plan programs introduce contemporary concepts in areas such as telehealth, artificial intelligence and machine learning. In addition, the programs address mental health parity, an area of increasing importance for patients and which has oversight from both individual state and federal governmental entities.
