URAC’s President and CEO, Dr. Shawn Griffin was on the road this week, traveling to Minnesota and North Dakota to present URAC’s first Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Parity Accreditation certificates in person. It was URAC’s honor and privilege to recognize Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota and Blue Cross Blue Shield North Dakota for their leadership in advancing mental health parity.
URAC’s MH/SUD Parity Accreditation is the only program in the country that aligns with the latest federal parity rules and state requirements, providing a structured, third-party framework to help organizations demonstrate measurable progress in mental health coverage. For these two pioneering plans, it’s not just about checking a box, it’s about raising the bar for how behavioral health is supported and delivered.
“Parity in behavioral health care is essential, and overdue,” said URAC President and CEO Shawn Griffin, MD. “We created this accreditation to bring clarity, consistency and accountability to a complicated regulatory landscape. We commend these early adopters for leading the way.”
We’re proud to celebrate this milestone with them, and even prouder to support the work they’re doing to make health care more accessible for all.
