URAC’s Health Care Artificial Intelligence (AI) Accreditation will be available for purchase on Monday, September 15, 2025. This first-of-its-kind program is for both developers of AI tools for health care and for organizations that are already using AI in health care.
“Building upon our multiple decades of quality health care standard setting, we are excited to offer the first AI accreditation that provides developers and users a framework for supporting providers and patients when using AI in health care. AI can be a powerful tool, but it should not replace qualified and trusted clinical knowledge in our communities.
We offer our program to support innovation and provide guidelines for the safe, ethical and responsible use of AI,” says URAC President and CEO, Shawn Griffin, MD. “We believe it is important for patients and clinicians to know that the AI support tools being used are trustworthy, as verified through testing and continuous monitoring for the risks that AI brings to care. We appreciate the many organizations already expressing interest in URAC’s Health Care AI Accreditation, showing their leadership in responsible AI development and usage.”
URAC’s AI Accreditation includes two modules:
- For AI Users: Health systems, hospitals and providers seeking assurance that their use of AI supports quality care, safety and excellent health outcomes for all.
- For AI Creators: Technology developers and innovators who want to demonstrate a commitment to responsible design, development and deployment.
If your organization wants to be one of the first to earn this accreditation, fill out this form and we’ll send you more information on September 15.
