URAC recently updated its Independent Review Organization (IRO) accreditation for third-party organizations providing medical determinations.
This accreditation assures that IROs establish reviewer qualifications, are free from organizational or reviewer conflicts of interest, address medical necessity and have reasonable timeframes for standard and expedited peer reviews and appeals processes.
“URAC updates our accreditations with inputs from industry leaders and key stakeholders,” says Shawn Griffin, MD, President and CEO of URAC. “The updates we’ve made to our IRO accreditation demonstrate our commitment to continuous quality improvement, excellence in patient care, and staying current on industry trends.”
