— Dan Conrad, President and CEO, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota

“Achieving URAC’s Mental Health Parity Accreditation demonstrates our ongoing commitment to creating a behavioral health system that works for everyone. This is a strong signal to our members and stakeholders that we are walking the walk when it comes to access and equity.”

URAC Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder (MHSUD) parity accreditation

URAC’s Mental Health/Substance Use Disorder (MH/SUD) Parity Accreditation is the first and only program of its kind in the country, allowing payers to demonstrate meaningful compliance with federal parity requirements while strengthening their systems for behavioral
health equity.

This accreditation aligns with the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA), as well as relevant state laws. It’s more than a compliance checkbox, it’s a signal to members, regulators and stakeholders that your organization is committed to truly equitable mental health care.

Why it matters:

  • Reinforces compliance with MHPAEA and state parity laws
  • Promotes transparency, accountability and continuous improvement
  • Supports better integration of mental health and substance use disorder treatment into overall care
