Community Health Centers are the unsung backbone of America’s safety net, serving more than 32.5 million patients annually across nearly 1,500 centers and over 16,000 service sites. They provide comprehensive primary health care, often including dental, mental health and substance use services, to medically underserved populations regardless of income or insurance status. And, they play an essential role in mitigating negative social determinants of health, from language support and housing referrals to food access, underscoring their community driven mission.
URAC’s Community Health Worker (CHW) Program Accreditation, validates and enhances organizational support of CHW programs that are essential in community outreach, health equity and cost avoidance. This accreditation builds capacity for centers to hire, retain and empower community health workers.
As the nation recognizes National Health Center Week this August 3–9, 2025, it is an opportunity to celebrate the dedicated staff and community partners who make this impactful network possible. Their commitment ensures access to high-quality compassionate health care for all, especially those who need it most.
