URAC has joined nearly 350 leading health care stakeholders in signing a joint letter urging Congress to extend Medicare telehealth flexibilities, currently scheduled to expire on September 30, 2025 to prevent disruptions in patient care.
The letter brings together a wide range of health care organizations, including hospitals, medical societies, community health centers, digital health companies and patient advocacy groups in one unified voice calling for a multi-year extension of Medicare telehealth flexibilities. Telehealth has become a lifeline for many Medicare beneficiaries especially those in rural or underserved communities, individuals with mobility challenges, and patients with limited broadband access. Without an extension, providers and patients could face widespread uncertainty and delays beginning on October 1, 2025. The letter underscores that the extension is a pragmatic, bipartisan solution designed to maintain access without adding new federal expenditures.
