URAC is proud to join communities across the country in celebrating National Rural Health Day (NRHD) on Thursday, November 20, 2025. Since 2011, this annual observance, founded and coordinated by the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH) spotlights the unique health care challenges and remarkable strength of the nearly 61 million people living in rural America.
“Rural communities are the backbone of much of America, and their health is essential to our shared future,” said Shawn Griffin, MD, President and CEO of URAC. “As a rural physician, I saw firsthand the resilience of patients and the dedication of providers who do more with less every day. On National Rural Health Day, we honor the clinicians and community leaders who care for their neighbors with heart, grit and ingenuity, and who remind us that rural health is not just important, it’s indispensable.”
