Wonder what URAC Pharmacy Accreditation Program is right for you?

Under Medicare’s home infusion therapy benefit authorized under the 21st Century Cures Act, home infusion therapy suppliers must be accredited by a CMS-approved accreditation organization, such as URAC.

Exceeding Compliance Standards

As Congress and CMS have mandated and supported infusion pharmacy services in patient’s homes, the infusion pharmacy organizations that can validate their commitment to industry best practices will have a competitive edge in the marketplace.

By earning URAC’s Medicare Home Infusion Therapy Supplier (MHITS) Accreditation, your organization will implement a comprehensive assessment of standards and practices that meet and exceed CMS requirements. The collaborative process, led by industry experts, covers practice management, consumer safety, complete care service, and practice standards, guidelines and protocols.

URAC, the nation’s leading health care accreditation authority, offers two accreditations in this specialty area. The standards for these two programs are the same and many pharmacies pursue both accreditations simultaneously.

  • Medicare Home Infusion Therapy Supplier Accreditation — Has Medicare-deemed status
  • Infusion Pharmacy Accreditation — Addresses infusion therapy standards for all payers (except Medicare) and sites of administration

Long-Lasting Benefits

By meeting URAC’s stringent accreditation standards, suppliers receive numerous benefits, including:

  • Validates best practices in patient care and safety with complex medications and nutritional products, which assures optimized access, outcomes and costs efficiencies
  • Demonstrates coordinated patient care via a multidisciplinary team, with comprehensive assessments, care planning and monitoring and patient/caregiver education
  • Better prepared to meet specialized reporting requirements, monitor therapy-related safety protections and other ongoing specialty considerations

PLUS FIVE more benefits:

  1. Elevates contracting power, credibility, and differentiation over competitors as payers and stakeholders are assured of organizational competency
  2. Provides a practical roadmap for ongoing improvement with operational and clinical infrastructure, processes and efficiencies
  3. Delivers risk management peace-of-mind with standards that prevent, protect and manage liabilities
  4. Inspires innovation through a non-prescriptive approach that support your specific business and clinical operations
  5. Validates compliance with all state and federal regulations, licensing and other regulatory requirements
