URAC white paper discusses the value and challenges facing specialty pharmacies today and in the future
August 10, 2021 – Washington, DC – URAC, the undisputed leader in pharmacy recognition, will release a white paper on the future of specialty pharmacy in conjunction with a webinar of the same topic on Wednesday, August 11. The ground-breaking white paper reflects URAC’s singular status as a convener of leaders from throughout the industry, including leaders from the National Association of Specialty Pharmacies, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Heritage Biologics, the Universities of Kentucky and Washington, and PANTHERx Rare to discuss why specialty pharmacy is a critical element of patient care, especially for patients facing rare disease diagnoses.
The paper, Specialty Pharmacy: Succeeding in a Shifting Landscape, covers the important role of specialty pharmacies, the challenges presented faced by the unique nature of specialty pharmacies, and examples of both opportunity and innovation, especially when treating patients with rare diseases. The webinar will provide insights from thought-leaders who manage specialty pharmacy patient care programs, what they’ve learned from their experiences, and models of care that have made a significant impact on patients’ lives.
“Because we work with so many specialty pharmacies, URAC is singularly positioned to bring together industry leaders to talk about the biggest trends in specialty pharmacy and share their experiences and innovations for providing the best care their uniquely complex patients,” says Heather Bonome, PharmD, URAC’s Director of Pharmacy. “I’m proud of the work our team and partners have done to bring these ideas to the forefront of the conversation on specialty pharmacy.”
