URAC worked with leaders in rare disease pharmacy to develop this program for additional recognition of efforts in managing the care of patients taking orphan medications.

We created our Rare Disease Certification for organizations that rise to the challenge of providing the high level of care necessary to serve patients with rare diseases.

This program is designed for specialty pharmacies that treat patients with rare diseases. There are two requirements:

This is one of URAC’s most affordable programs, and we prorate the cost depending on where you are in your Specialty Pharmacy accreditation cycle.

Rare Disease Center of Excellence Certification Benefits

This unique certification was developed with the input of rare disease experts, including NORD—The National Organization for Rare Disorders—to ensure it reflects current and proven best practices.

The certification helps better prepare your practice to respond to what manufacturers of rare disease drugs are looking for.

Who May Apply

To be eligible for URAC’s Rare Disease Pharmacy Center of Excellence Certification, an organization must hold or be actively seeking a URAC Specialty Pharmacy or Specialty Pharmacy Services accreditation with a specialty patient management requirement and actively dispenses at least one rare or orphan medication.
