URAC’s Director of Pharmacy Programs, Dr. Heather Bonome, and URAC’s President and CEO, Dr. Shawn Griffin, are featured on Asembia’s Specialty Pharmacy Summit 2026 Rewind. Drs. Bonome and Griffin recorded their segments live on site at the Asembia Specialty Pharmacy Summit in Las Vegas in April and spoke about the importance of using guidelines and clear structures when adding AI to specialty pharmacy care.
In the podcast, Dr. Bonome shares some recent updates to URAC’s Specialty Pharmacy Accreditation, including a strengthened focus on patient safety in dispensing accuracy. She also talked about the growth of URAC’s Rare Disease Certification, available to specialty pharmacies that focus on dispensing orphan medications. Drs. Bonome and Griffin spent a few minutes explaining how URAC’s new Health Care AI Accreditation is designed for both users and developers to ensure safeguards are in place for this rapidly changing technology that is already being used in specialty pharmacy care.
As the leader in specialty pharmacy accreditation and the first organization in the country to launch a Health Care AI Accreditation program, URAC helps organizations across the health care spectrum establish practical frameworks for quality, safety and responsible innovation.
