January is Mental Wellness Month, a time to reflect on the importance of mental health and the role organizations can play in supporting the well-being of their people. As a new year begins, many individuals and workplaces are setting goals, managing change and navigating ongoing stressors, making this an important moment to focus on mental health as a foundation for overall health. Workplaces have a significant influence on mental wellness. Policies, culture and access to resources can either support or strain employee mental health. Research consistently shows that organizations that prioritize psychological safety, supportive leadership and access to mental health resources see benefits ranging from improved engagement to reduced burnout and turnover.
As conversations about mental wellness continue throughout the month, URAC remains committed to advancing quality and accountability in mental health. URAC’s Mental Health at Work Accreditation helps organizations assess and strengthen the systems, policies and practices that support employee mental well-being.
